Reveal the private investigator in you with theprivateinvestigationguide.com Michigan Free Press Release / News - Michigan PR
“Today about one fourth of the private investigators are self employed. Others will be working under attorneys, insurance companies, financial institutions, credit collection services etc. The private investigators choose their field of investigation according to their educational background, for example who is having a degree in business might work as a corporate investigator, says Mr. Nick Stoles of theprivateinvestigationguide.com

He added that, “Thanks to the detective movies and fiction books where we can learn about these Private Detectives. Their case solving techniques are mostly like that of movie heroes who solve mysteries in their films. A private investigators case will most probably includes Background Investigations, surveillance or search for missing people. Mostly people will turn to these private investigators when the information they need doesn’t fall within police jurisdiction. A private investigator will use different kind of sources to solve the cases, but most of the clues will come from surveillance only. Coming to surveillance it’s a tough job to do because you have to follow somebody without their knowledge without missing them. Private Detectives use surveillance vans. or their own cars for this purposes”.

Nannny Cam Catches Woman Stealing Jewelry

Suspect Caught On ‘Nanny Cam’ - News, Sports, Jobs - The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register
A Bethlehem woman is accused of stealing jewelry and cash from the homes of her neighbors, and one of those crimes was reportedly recorded on a "nanny cam."

Lisa Bauer, 42, of 11 Baytree Drive was arrested Monday on a felony charge of daytime burglary. She was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Bauer is accused of stealing cash from the home of a neighbor on multiple occasions, and an Ohio County sheriff's report indicates she also stole thousands of dollars in jewelry from another neighbor.

Bauer admitted to some of those thefts, according to the report. The report indicates she told the investigator the crimes were prompted by her gambling addiction.

She allegedly stole a ring worth more than $6,000 and a bracelet valued at nearly $900 from her neighbor. She reportedly admitted to the theft of that ring and several other rings from the home, but she told a sheriff's investigator she returned them.

She denied taking any bracelet, according to the report.

Dumpster Diving ok for PI's

Layton OKs 'Dumpster diving' for private investigators - Standard.NET - Standard-Examiner
LAYTON -- The number who can legally "Dumpster dive" in Layton has expanded.

The city council has amended an ordinance that prohibits scavenging -- Dumpster diving -- to now allow any licensed private investigator to sift through trash.

The council made the change on the recommendation of City Attorney Gary Crane.

In 2005, the council gained media notoriety when it put in place an ordinance preventing people -- with the exception of police -- from sifting through other businesses' or residents' garbage.

The intent of the law, modeled after an ordinance in Orem, is to protect residents from having their identity stolen and to offer police a proactive investigative tool.

GPS Tracking and the courts

Litmus test in GPS cop case -- Page 1 -- Times Union - Albany NY
ALBANY — Four days before Christmas in 2005, state police placed a battery-operated GPS device known as a "Q-ball" on the car of a suspected burglar.

The gadget — a homing device right out of James Bond lore — led to his arrest and conviction by jury.

Three years and three months later, the state's highest court will hear arguments today on whether police were empowered to put the tracking device on his van without obtaining a warrant.

The potentially precedent-setting case before the Court of Appeals pits concerns of privacy against the ability of law enforcement to use its latest technology against suspected criminals.

The man's attorney is calling the police use of GPS an intrusive and possibly Orwellian tactic that violates the U. S. Constitution's safeguards against unreasonable search and seizure. And he wants the Court of Appeals to require law enforcement obtain a search warrant before using GPS tracking.

Nanny Cams, keep an eye on things

Parenting - Msokorea.com
Keep An Eye On Mary Poppins With A Nanny Cam

When you are a working mom

When a job spells security for the family, moms have to work alongside with dads. In this day and age, every penny is essential, and your extra pay brings home extra bacon. You will have to leave the baby at home with a nanny. A nanny referred by an agency or a friend may be a brilliant solution to your problem. Still, you are getting that nagging feeling. Is the nanny reliable?

News of children abused by their nannies is on the rise and no parent would want their children exposed to any form of ill treatment. Moms and dads hailed the coming of the nanny cam, which greatly reduces their stress levels. Note this, the sales of the nanny cam has risen. Isn’t that telling?

With a discreet nanny cam, you can watch how the nanny looks after your baby, even when you are miles away from home. Hundreds of moms are relying on the electric spy to check on the nannies at their homes. This technology better be called the Mommy Electric Eye too, for the purpose it is used.

How to use your home video surveillance effectively

An electronic nanny cam will require the placement of hidden cameras in strategic places all over the house. The nanny is sure to go around with the baby in tow. The first place of course is the nursery. Set a nanny cam overhead crib and another next to the changing table. Other places are the kitchen, dining room, and the living room. Don’t forget to place a nanny cam near the door. You will be able to monitor if the nanny is receiving forbidden guests.

Choose a digital receiver for your nanny cam. The images are recorded in real time and the movements are quicker and realistic. A surveillance system audio transmitters is ideal with a baby around. You can check if the nanny is attending to the baby or if the baby is in pain. You can also hear the nanny talking, shouting, singing, and laughing.

Make sure that the nanny cam you are using can provide you remote access any time, has an internal web server, and a hard drive with vast storage If you are using a digital video recorder server, you can use up to 16 nanny cams. This type of server can mix with different types of camera too.

You can use a fake camera too

As part of the espionage, you can place fake nanny cams in obvious places where the nanny can expect. Unknown to her you have hidden cameras in other same areas. This spice up your surveillance and spying efforts. However, in deference to her rights and her privacy, you shouldn’t place one in the bathroom. After all, you use it too and it could backfire at you.

With the uncertainty of these trying times, there’s no room to make mistakes. You never just know. Just play it right. If the baby’s safety is your top concern, a nanny cam can make it happen.

Duplicity: Spy Movie Review

Julia Roberts and Clive Owen play charmingly devious spies in Duplicity
Would you think I was gaming you if I said Duplicity — which could well win the award for worst movie trailer of 2009 — is actually a clever, classy spy comedy?

You’d never know it from those unfunny previews, which have been running in theatres for months now. I’d begun to cringe every time I saw Julia Roberts smugly dangling a thong while a gobsmacked Clive Owen, looking like he’s had his pocket picked in a brothel, exclaims, “You’re gamin’ me?”

Eye Scanning Lie Detector in Development

Bladerunner Style Lie Detector To Be Developed » Spy Review
Science fiction and movies have often been forerunners of technological innovations which have actually been realised in the future. Whether it was man’s journey to the moon or innovations in Star Trek like the communicator or others – they found a place in reality after some time.

As far as detection techniques are concerned we have come a long way from fingerprints, polygraphs and DNA analysis – all are commonplace and used to catch criminals. But what if criminals could be caught before a crime was committed? That does seem futuristic, but the seeds of this are already in place.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has invited companies to bid for research on a project which can scan eyes and be able to tell if the person has any criminal intentions.

Concerned Spouses Rely on Spy Gear over Private Investigators

All of the signs of a cheating spouse are there. She is late most evenings. He’s more protective of his cell phone. She’s online more often and even has a new e-mail account.

Many people turn to spy gear such as covert GPS tracking devices and spy cameras to find out whether or not a spouse is cheating. The do-it-yourself approach to private investigation is less expensive than hiring a private investigator and it can be done using simple technology.

Despite what many popular women’s magazines or daytime talk shows might lead us to believe, infidelity is not all that prevalent. In fact, according to a 2006 report completed by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, only 15% to 18% of married people cheat on their spouses.

With this remarkably low number of cheating spouses, it is important to investigate before confronting a spouse. A distant husband or a suddenly busy wife does not necessarily mean he or she is a cheater.

Covert GPS Tracking, the Preferred Spy Gear

GPS (global positioning systems) tracking devices can be small enough to fit in the palm of a hand and easily hidden in the trunk of a car. Covert GPS tracking devices are ideal for tracking the location of a vehicle either in real time or as stored data.

The location data is sent to one or more satellites. Depending on the type of GPS device used, the data is either stored on a chip or sent to an online database.

Many suspecting spouses choose this type of spy gear because it is simple, inconspicuous, and it provides concrete evidence to the whereabouts of their spouse. Many feel it’s better to know where the spouse is and know when he or she is lying about it.

Covert GPS Tracking and Privacy

Covert GPS tracking is a relatively new technology, which means privacy law is evolving. In several United States federal criminal cases it’s been determined that police need a warrant unless the covert GPS tracking device is placed on a vehicle in a public place. However, even this law varies from state to state.

For those tracking a spouse, the evidence gathered won’t be used in a court of law so a warrant isn’t necessary. However, some privacy laws still apply. Those who use GPS should only place the device in the spouse’s vehicle. Respect the privacy of the suspected lover and stay protected from the law.

Be Prepared for the Results

It is not enough to just know how to use covert GPS tracking. The user must also be prepared for the information revealed.

If it turns out the husband or wife is cheating, is the user prepared to confront the spouse or will it just bring more heartbreak? What happens if the covert GPS tracking device is discovered by the spouse and there is no adultery taking place?

Sometimes these risks are worth taking just for the peace of mind. But that decision can only be made by the suspicious spouse. Fortunately, spy gear is affordable and accessible to the average person, not just private investigators.
